                    The W.F. Barton School of Business at Wichita State University has an opening for Assistant/Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship:

     

    POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

     

    ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR

    Entrepreneurship

     

    The W. Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas is seeking qualified applicants for a tenure-eligible position at the assistant/associate professor level.   Wichita State University is located in the largest economic, industrial, cultural, and population center of Kansas.  The university has strong ties to the business community, making it easy to acquire research and case materials.

     

    Responsibilities:                                  Teaching undergraduate and graduate level (M.B.A.) courses in entrepreneurship and other disciplines; engaging in research leading to publications and other scholarly output; serving on faculty and other committees; participating in other appropriate service and professional activities.  The teaching load will consist of a minimum of 6 hours per semester.

     

    Research Support:                               Support includes research grants, personal computers for individual faculty members, full access to all major statistical packages, student assistants, and funding for travel to professional meetings.

     

    Qualifications:                                      Applicants for this position must hold a Ph.D. in a business area, preferably Entrepreneurship, or a closely related area, or must show a high probability of completing degree requirements before the effective date of appointment.  Applicants must demonstrate compelling research potential and must be able to present evidence of teaching effectiveness in entrepreneurship and closely related areas. Additional required qualifications are excellent oral and written communication skills and successful experience with diverse populations.  A demonstrated interest in or capability to teach in an appropriate ancillary business discipline is preferred.

                                                               

    Appointment/Salary:                            A nine-month appointment beginning August 2008. Salary will be AACSB competitive.  Summer research support may be available on a competitive basis.

    Applications are invited for a tenure-track faculty position in Entrepreneurship at the rank of Assistant or Associate Pro­fessor with a proposed start date of July 1, 2014. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The position is subject to budgetary approval.

     

    The successful applicant will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses and conduct research in entre­preneurship. Areas of interest may include, but are not limited to, entrepreneurship and small business development, entrepreneurship policy, entrepreneurship development, innovation and commercialization, new venture creation, social entrepreneurship, family business and succession planning. Applicants with teaching or research interest in business strat­egy are particularly encouraged to apply. Small and medium enterprises are a vital part of the economy of Newfoundland and Labrador and opportunities exist to work collaboratively and be supported by provincial and federal government programs, programs within the Faculty of Business Administration, such as Atlantic Canada Venture Gateway, which pro­vides investment readiness training to regional SMEs, and other Memorial University units, such as the Genesis Centre, a campus incubation facility that assists local start-up technology companies in the early stages of development and growth, and the Faculty of Engineering, which is a key driver of innovation in the province.

     

    Applicants should have a PhD/DBA and have a demonstrated commitment to teaching and research in a university en­vironment. Applicants must have demonstrated research productivity commensurate with the rank of appointment. Ap­plicants seeking appointment at the level of Associate Professor will be expected to have demonstrated teaching ex­perience, have an established research program, and to be able to contribute to leadership and development of the entrepreneurship area at the Faculty of Business Administration.

     

    Evidence of a completed earned doctorate is required for the appointee to receive the rank of Assistant Professor or higher and to be in a tenure-track position. (If a successful candidate has not completed an earned doctorate, he/she shall be appointed to a regular term, non-renewable three-year appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. If the candidate completes all the requirements for the doctorate during the first 24 months of the term appointment, he/she shall begin a tenure-track appointment following completion of the requirements of the degree.)

     

    The Faculty of Business Administration is a leader in management education with AACSB International Accreditation. Approximately 1,000 students are registered in the undergraduate programs of the Faculty, with another 200 students completing graduate programs.
