    MBA Business Plan Competition

Venture capitalists are notorious for short attention spans, and the quality of an entrepreneur's pitch - measured in both succinctness and appeal - is often the difference between gaining more face time and eventual funding. MBA student teams have two minutes to pitch their ideas to VCs. With one of the country's top purses and as an entry point for Moot Corp, the Wake Forest Elevator Competition is a wonderful opportunity for the best student ventures.

            Competition for Social Entrepreneurship

To meet a growing need, we're opening a second set of elevators specifically for socially minded entrepreneurs. For those ventures that solve a pressing social need, the social entrepreneurship competition is an excellent opportunity for entrepreneurs prepared to measure their success based on the triple bottom line: economic, environmental, and social. Undergraduate and graduate student teams are invited to apply.

A conference full of VCs invited to Saturday's Dinner
The Angel Capital Association's Southeast Angel Conference, a meeting of dozens of angel investor groups, is being held at Wake Forest University on the same weekend as the Elevator Competition. All of the investors attending the conference are invited to attend the competition and the awards dinner Saturday night. Their attendance makes Saturday's dinner an excellent opportunity to network and pitch even after the competition.

    Why Social Entrepreneurship?
Last year, 30% of our applications would have fallen into our new category of social entrepreneurship, including one of the finalists. We wanted to provide an avenue for those great social entrepreneurship teams to win. At Babcock, social entrepreneurship and social change are becoming part of our identity.  Therefore, introducing a new competition for social entrepreneurship was a natural fit for both the Elevator Competition and our school.

In our own words: Elevator Blog
