Dear Colleague
There is increasing disquiet in the academic community about an apparent increase in cases of academic misconduct. As editors, we feel that we have a responsibility to do everything we can to uphold standards of ethical conduct in JMS. To that end, we are writing to alert you to a forthcoming editorial, which discusses issues around academic misconduct in publishing, as well as to remind you of JMS policy and practice concerning ethics. The key pillars of our policy and practice are:
· Standard double-blind review process;
· General and Associate Editors cannot publish papers in JMS during their term, unless the paper in question was submitted before the editorial appointment;
· All authors are required to complete a checklist upon submission;
· All papers which are sent to review are scanned with plagiarism software; and
· An appeal process for authors who wish to dispute an editorial decision.
You can read the forthcoming editorial at: http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/joms.12104/abstract
Best wishes, The Editors
