    I recommend highly!

    PDW (Program Session # 66 on Friday, Aug 1 2014 10:00AM - 12:00PM

at Offsite in Temple University, Fox School of Business:

Creating an Open-source Online Video Resource for Teaching Innovation and Entrepreneurship
Open Source Video Resource (Details below)

This is your chance to find out what free resources are available to help you teach entrepreneurship (for example I will be making over 200 videos available to participants).

Please join me if you have something to share or would just like to find out what is available. Please let me know as soon as possible if you are coming, so that I can plan transportation (Temple is 8 minutes drive north of the Convention Centre). I also need to plan the food.

If you have any questions, please email.  If you have already sent in your information, I will be sending out a confirmation with details on Wednesday.

    Details:

Universities and especially business schools are increasingly challenged by supporters and experts to develop ways to enhance the quality of their education while reducing costs (especially to students). While online content can replace books, most online content cannot replicate the rich interactions between faculty and students and between students that characterizes the best learning environments. The challenge is to create a rich resource of online video (and other) content that can help faculty facilitate a “flipped classroom” approach, allowing more cost effective classes, while also enhancing student engagement, both with faculty and each other.

In this PDW we will make available an “Open Source” resource to online content creation (initially in the fields of entrepreneurship and innovation). The content will be created by interested experts, and curated through a simple peer-review forum where scholars (and practitioners) can share feedback, to improve content quality, while providing additional complementary videos and other resources. Members of the community who use the content in their own learning environment will be expected to create content, provide initial feedback or make suggestions as to how additional content development might progress.

The intent is to create a repository that includes: base lectures, expert interviews, academic presentations, case studies, tools and exercises. Our initial intent is to focus on the areas of innovation and entrepreneurship, in part because we have already developed over 100 classes and 200 interviews, but we are very willing to expand this project to other divisions, where subject matter experts are willing to lead the peer review process. During the PDW we will: discuss content scope, the peer review process, and developing a sustainable business model. We will also share examples of existing tools and content that will form the initial basis of this open source community.

The event will be at the Fox School of Business, Alter Hall, 1801 Liacouras Walk, Philadelphia, PA, 19122. Refreshments (and transportation) will be provided. Please contact Andrew Maxwell at andrew.maxwell@temple.edu for more information regarding this offsite PDW
