The Asia Academy of Management invites papers for its sixth conference on the captioned theme. A lot of attention has been paid to the rising position of Asia in the world economy in the past two decades. Most researchers and business practitioners believe that this rising trend will continue or even accelerate in the coming years. Asia is a collection of many countries with their unique social and cultural backgrounds and at different stages of political and economic development. It is clear that management phenomena and practices evolved from diversified countries can provide exciting and useful insights to the field of management studies and the development of management theories. The Sixth Asia Academy of Management conference is therefore devoted to provide a platform for scholars to share their research interests related to the new faces of Asian management. Taiwan is the right place to reflect on this issue as it has undergone rigorous changes in its political system and economic structure in the past twenty to thirty years. Specifically, issues related to the broad theme of the conference include, but are not restricted to the following:

l Is there any uniqueness in Asian management when compared to our existing management theories? How can this uniqueness be explained, and how can it help further develop our management theories?

l Are there any significant variations in the phenomenon of management and management practices among the many countries in Asia? How can these differences be explained by management and other theories?

l How can Asian management studies help business practitioners adapt and manage their businesses better in Asia?

l How well is Asia countries developing and adopting the latest technologies to build competitiveness?

l Does the Asian workforce differ from their counterparts in other regions? How do business practitioners adjust to these differences?

The conference program will consist of keynote speeches, symposium, competitive paper sessions, and interactive paper sessions. This year, the Western Academy of Management will host their international conference along with the AAoM conference with a focus on 'strategic alliances and network'. Please contact their Program Chair K. Praveen Parboteeah (parbotek@uww.edu) for details.
