Job description
The Innovation, Technology Entrepreneurship and Marketing (ITEM) Group of the Eindhoven University of Technology, offers Ph.D. positions on Technology Entrepreneurship. The positions aim at studying Entrepreneurship in a Technological setting. More specifically, we aim for studying venturing processes in which a particular piece of technology is exploited. These venturing processes can start at large corporations (corporate entrepreneurship) and universities, but can also deal with independent startups.
The PhD student will focus upon relationships between firm and founder characteristics, business model development, cooperation with the technology owners (often large corporations, research labs or universities) and the performance of the venturing process. Analyses will be based on qualitative (cases) and/or quantitative data from different countries.
Tasks
• Engage in scientific research that will ultimately result in a doctoral thesis;
• Carry out a systematic literature analysis related to the PhD;
• Organize, conduct and analyze interviews and/or other data;
• Prepare and submit research output for publication in peer-reviewed international scientific journals;
• Participate in the tasks in international cooperation related to this PhD position.
Requirements
• M.Sc. degree in innovation management, business administration, organization studies or a related field;
• Demonstrated research experience, including qualitative and/or quantitative research;
• Openness towards interdisciplinary research methods and approaches;
• Good communicative and collaborative skills, motivated, enthusiastic;
• Experience with technology entrepreneurship is a great plus;
• Excellent writing and presentation skills in English.
Conditions of employment
To begin with, a PhD appointment for a period of 12 months. Continuation of the appointment with another 36 months will be based on performance evaluation. Contract type: temporary: 1-4 years.
