Friday, August 12 2011
The Entrepreneurship Division will sponsor an Early Career Development Consortium during the 2011 annual meetings of the Academy of Management meetings in Montreal. This year's program is specifically designed to meet the needs of those scholars who are early in their career and who hold the rank of Assistant Professor or similar.
On Friday, August 12th some of the leading scholars in our field will provide practical advice about managing your career. Presenters include: Dean Shepherd, Jenifer Jennings, Dev Jennings, Maw-Der Foo, Lou Marino, Melissa Cardon, Bill Schulze, Patrick Kreiser, Phil Phan. Topics are centered on issues that are central during the early career irrespectively of where in the world you work and include topics such as balancing conflicting demands, and preparing for promotion and tenure, but will de adapted to the needs of the participants. The consortium also offers you the opportunity to meet and interact with others at the same career state as yourself.
The Consortium will begin at 09:00 am on Friday, August 12, 2011, lunch will be provided and we will conclude with a dinner at a nearby restaurant. The consortium will take place at St. Mary's University which has graciously donated space and which is located a 15 minute drive from the conference hotels. Thanks to the generosity of the Entrepreneurship Division, participation in the Early Career Development Consortium,, including lunch and dinner, is free of charge for participants!
This year's consortium is chaired by Johan Wiklund (Syracuse University) and David Deeds (University of St Thomas). The consortium will be limited to 25 participants to allow plenty of time for interaction. Qualified participants will be admitted on a first come basis.
