Assistant/Associate Professor of Strategy & Management
The Management & Human Resources Team at the <st1:placetype w:st="on">College</st1:placetype> of <st1:placename w:st="on">Business</st1:placename>, <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placetype w:st="on">University</st1:placetype> of <st1:placename w:st="on">Wisconsin Oshkosh</st1:placename></st1:place> anticipates hiring a full-time, tenure-track faculty member effective September 1, 2009.
The Institution The UW Oshkosh College of Business is AACSB accredited at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. In addition to 1700 undergraduate business students, we have over 600 graduate students enrolled in MBA courses, making us one of the largest evening/on-line MBA programs in the <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placetype w:st="on">University</st1:placetype> of <st1:placename w:st="on">Wisconsin System</st1:placename></st1:place>. Located in the <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placename w:st="on">Fox River</st1:placename> <st1:placetype w:st="on">Valley</st1:placetype></st1:place>, one of the fastest growing, industrially diverse areas of the state, the College has undertaken several innovative ventures. We are home to the most successful Family Business Forum in the state and the Center for Community Partnerships has been cited as a model for fostering collaborative research, and training with area businesses and community organizations. With a student body of 12,000, the <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placetype w:st="on">University</st1:placetype> of <st1:placename w:st="on">Wisconsin Oshkosh</st1:placename></st1:place> is a major undergraduate campus and a regional center for graduate education. Bounded by lakes, rivers and forests, <st1:city w:st="on">Oshkosh</st1:city> is within driving distance from <st1:city w:st="on">Chicago</st1:city>, <st1:city w:st="on">Milwaukee</st1:city> and <st1:city w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Minneapolis</st1:place></st1:city>.
Responsibilities
The primary teaching responsibilities cover a wide range of courses in Strategic Management, Organizational Behavior, and/or International Business, for the undergraduate and MBA programs. Teaching and research interest in related areas such as: Entrepreneurship, Family or Small Business Management, Project Management is preferred. Faculty members are expected to publish regularly in peer-reviewed journals. Untenured faculty members are expected to participate in service activities for the team and college (e.g., curriculum development). University-level service is expected at higher ranks. Requirements (Degree/Experience):
Candidates must possess:
- An earned doctorate in Strategic Management, or a closely related field from an AACSB-accredited institution (ABDs with a reasonable likelihood of degree completion prior to hiring may also apply).
- A record of excellence in teaching or potential for excellence in teaching;
- A record of publications in refereed journals (for the rank of Associate) or ability to satisfy the research requirements of the <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placetype w:st="on">College</st1:placetype> of <st1:placename w:st="on">Business Administration</st1:placename></st1:place> (for the rank of Assistant); and
- A reasonable likelihood of degree completion prior to hiring.
Organizational experience related to the field and a proven record of building bridges between academia and practice is highly valued.
