    Two assistant professor positions in Entrepreneurship & Innovation

    The Entrepreneurship & Innovation (E&I) section of the Amsterdam Business School invites applications for two assistant professor positions in Entrepreneurship & Innovation.

    The Amsterdam Business School is part of the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Amsterdam, which is triple crown accredited by EQUIS, AACSB and AMBA. 

    The Entrepreneurship & Innovation section conducts research and offers education in two interrelated management challenges: creating new businesses and realizing innovations.

    The E&I section offers a broad range of educational programs, including: MSc Business Administration – specialization track in Entrepreneurship & Innovation; MSc Business Administration – specialization track in Entrepreneurship & Management in the Creative Industries; MSc Entrepreneurship (in collaboration with VU University); Minor Entrepreneurship (university wide); various electives at the BSc and MSc level; executive education; and thesis supervision (both in the Master's and the Bachelor's programs).

    The research of E&I section focuses on themes such as: entrepreneurship, careers and networks; marketing signals for innovative products; (digital) service innovation & growth; entrepreneurship & innovation in creative industries. Faculty members publish in international peer-reviewed journals including Organization Science; Journal of Business Venturing; Journal of Management Studies; Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal; Journal of Management; and Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice.

    Job description

    The Amsterdam Business School offers two positions:

    1) An assistant professor in Entrepreneurship & Innovation, with an emphasis on Entrepreneurship (starting date 1 September 2017).

    2) An assistant professor in Entrepreneurship & Innovation, with an emphasis on Innovation Management (starting date 1 December 2017).

    The core tasks of an assistant professor are in teaching and research. In the tenure track appointment, 50% of the time will be for research, while the teaching load will maximally take up the other 50% of the time. Teaching will be at the graduate (MSc), executive and, especially, at the undergraduate (BSc) level, because of the need to expand teaching in the new BSc program. Research is aimed at international top journals, especially in the fields of entrepreneurship and innovation management.

    Requirements

    Candidates should have, or be close to (the thesis should be approved by the time the contract starts) obtaining, a PhD in Management Science or a closely related discipline, and their research should concern the fields of entrepreneurship and/or innovation management. They will be evaluated on their potential for and/or record of excellence in teaching and research. In particular, we are especially looking for candidates with good quantitative methods skills and the ability to teach them to students.

    The appointees at the assistant professor level will be offered a tenure track position for six years. Upon meeting the tenure track criteria, a permanent contract as associate professor will be offered.

    Salary will be in accordance with Dutch academic salary scales and include a pension scheme, and range between €3,427 to €5,330 gross per month, dependent on experience and track record of the candidate. A substantial reduction in income tax (equal to 30% of taxable salary) may apply to non-Dutch candidates. The Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities is applicable.

    Starting date will be 1 September 2017 for vacancy (1) with an emphasis on Entrepreneurship, and 1 December 2017 for vacancy (2) with an emphasis on Innovation Management, or such other dates as may be mutually agreed.
