    DEPARTMENT OF MANAGEMENT AND MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS

    UNIVERSITY OF WEST FLORIDA

     

    Applications are invited for a tenure-track assistant/associate professor position in management (Position number:  103130), starting August 2016 subject to funding availability.  Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

     

    The individual holding this position will be responsible primarily for teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Entrepreneurship, Small Business Development, and Business Ethics. 

     

    This position offers an excellent opportunity for active involvement in development of the newly instituted Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of West Florida, College of Business and the targeted expansion of the College's existing undergraduate/graduate programs. Dedicated to seeding economic growth, the Center encourages and supports educational initiatives related to entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial thinking and serves as a comprehensive resource for economic innovation for students, industry and community partners.

     

    Minimum qualifications for the position are a doctoral degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Preferred candidates will have a Ph.D. in a field closely related to at least one of the teaching areas specified above from an Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) accredited school at the time of appointment.  ABDs will be considered; but must provide strong evidence that the doctoral degree will be completed prior to December 2016. Prior teaching experience in related teaching fields at the college level with evidence of teaching excellence is strongly desired.  Candidates considered for the rank of assistant professor must demonstrate the potential to pursue a balanced commitment to excellent teaching, productive research, and active professional and community service.  A track record of high-quality scholarly publications, teaching excellence, and service to academic and professional communities is required for appointment at the rank of associate professor.

     

    In addition to teaching and conducting research, successful candidates will be required to perform academic and career counseling, serve on departmental, college and university committees, and participate in assessment activities.  A normal teaching load is three courses per semester. This position may require teaching at other campuses of the university. Opportunities may exist for faculty to teach abroad at the University's partner schools.

     

    The College of Business is AACSB accredited with over 1600 students enrolled in ten undergraduate majors and two masters programs.  The main campus of The University of West Florida is located in Pensacola, the crown jewel of Florida's beautiful Emerald Coast, known worldwide for its pristine white-sand beaches.  The area is famous for its pleasant climate and location on the Gulf of Mexico, and enjoys a comparatively low cost of living.  The campus is situated on a 1,600 acre nature preserve where over 12,000 students enjoy the benefits of small classes and personal attention from their professors.  UWF is part of the Florida Board of Education's Division of Colleges and Universities.
