JOB TITLE: Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship
The Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida offers a unique opportunity to qualified applicants in entrepreneurship with a passion for outstanding graduate teaching. A Ph.D. in entrepreneurship or a closely related field from an AACSB-accredited school is required. The position commences in August 2019. Because we are a graduate-only business school, preference will be given to candidates who have experience and a strong desire to teach MBA students in our full-time, evening, and executive MBA programs. We also have a high-quality Executive DBA program and the successful candidate must be willing to actively participate in teaching, mentoring, and conducting research with EDBA students. Previous entrepreneurial and/or professional industry experience is desirable, as is expertise in both the global and social domains of entrepreneurship. We are particularly interested in candidates who have a demonstrated record of bridging thought leadership and influence to an entrepreneurial ecosystem. Well-qualified candidates at the full-professor rank may also be considered.
We are a heavily mission-driven school. The mission of the Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College is to develop global business leaders and innovators through a high-quality, integrated, experiential education that prepares them to add significant value to their organizations and communities. The Crummer School only hires experienced faculty with established teaching and research records, including many award-winning graduate teachers. We especially value individuals who also bring managerial industry experience as part of their background. We do not have departments and operate as a faculty of the whole. This model lends itself exceptionally well to a level of nimbleness in innovation that is rarely seen in academe, and also to a cross-disciplinary approach in the classroom and in research collaboration. Classes are small and faculty build close professional relationships with our students.
Teaching
Crummer School faculty members take great pride in the fact that we are ranked #1 in Florida by Forbes. Also, for three years in a row Leadership Magazine has ranked our MBA programs #1 in the country for Leadership Development. We attract excellent MBA students at all levels – executive, professional, and full-time (which we call Early Advantage MBAs). Our students are eager to learn from our accomplished faculty and the prestige factor of holding a Crummer MBA is very high, especially in Florida. Hence, outstanding MBA teaching is essential to success as a member of our faculty. Executive DBA students are top-level executives or seasoned entrepreneurs who take a variety of seminars in residence and complete a dissertation and other research requirements during their three-year program, affording outstanding opportunities for faculty to participate in these projects. At the Crummer School, all learning experiences are heavily applied and experiential. We do not offer undergraduate classes within the Crummer School.
Distinguishing aspects of the graduate entrepreneurship program at Crummer include the interaction that happens with students, faculty, alumni, and the community through the Center for Advanced Entrepreneurship (CFAE), including innovative programs such as the Entrepreneurial Scholar of Distinction, and the Integrated Capstone Experience (ICE) curriculum, which includes two tracks: 1) A partnership with NASA to commercialize their technology and 2) start your own business where students create and build their own start-ups. Research
The Crummer faculty recognize that a broad range of applied research contributes to management practice. Cross-disciplinary collaboration is common within our own faculty and also with colleagues outside the Crummer School. An engaged scholarship model that combines managerial relevance with rigor in applied research is highly valued among our group.
Service
You will find collegiality to be one of the best parts of being a faculty member at the Crummer School. We genuinely like working together and when service needs come up it's not a burden but rather part of our strong culture of self-governance. Externally, involvement in such ways as scholarly societies, editorial boards, company engagements, and local community service is well-respected and encouraged.
Rollins College and Central Florida
Rollins is a top-tier private liberal arts institution on a par with many of the best liberal arts colleges in the Northeast U.S. Founded in 1885, Rollins was the first recognized college in Florida and is a significant force in the Central Florida community. Rollins has been listed for seven consecutive years on the Chronicle of Higher Education's list of "Great Colleges to Work For" and was named the #1 "Most Beautiful Campus" in the nation by Princeton Review in 2016. The Crummer School is fully accredited by AACSB for its MBA and EDBA and Rollins College is fully accredited by SACS. Winter Park is a beautiful community nestled within the dynamic Orlando metro area of Central Florida, a region that has recently been ranked #1 in the U.S. for job growth. The cost of living is very reasonable and opportunities for year-round entertainment and outdoor activities are second to none. Beyond the obvious theme park and hospitality focus, the region also has a burgeoning high-tech sector including a substantial focus on simulation, and also is a leading market in health care innovation. The area is a great community for families to put down roots.
