    Dear Colleagues,

Only 3 days left to submit your abstract (1000 words) to the track 5.6. Technological innovations: barriers or enablers of social inclusion? I will chair with with Valentina Cucino (Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies) and Riccardo Maiolini (John Cabot University) at the 2023 R&D Management conference in Seville, Spain (17 to 21 June 2023).

Today people with a disability are often prevented from taking a full part in society and the economy due to environmental and attitudinal barriers. In this context, technological innovations (i.e., digital technologies, AI, big data analytics) play a twofold role in social inclusion, representing new sources of motivation for developing innovative empowerment strategies. On one side, they represent a barrier to social inclusion. Platforms such as Twitter, Meta, and Google have created a digital divide and the spotlight on inequalities and vulnerabilities in the population. People with disabilities are thus discriminated. On the other side, technological innovations are also creating job opportunities for professionals with special needs since many processes will operate through voice recognition and virtual reality; this will contribute to the insertion of people with special needs in the labor market.

This track invites both early and senior researchers to investigate how digital, industry 4.0., AI technologies employed by companies drive or strengthen the path of social inclusion.

The theme of this track will focus on, but not limited to, issues such as:

    • In which contexts can they represent a barrier or an enabler of social inclusion?
    • What are the new innovative and inclusive business models?
    • What technological initiatives may companies take to include people with disabilities inside the organization?

Please find more information in the attached document.

You can submit a 1000 words abstract via this link by Feb 1 2023.

Look forward to receiving your submissions and feel free to spread it as well.

     Best wishes,
