Journal of Management 2026 Review Issue Call for Proposals
The Journal of Management (JOM) editorial team invites authors to submit proposals for the 2026 Review Issues. Articles published in Review Issues are high-impact scholarly surveys that summarize and integrate recent research and, importantly, highlight important directions for future inquiry. JOM considers review proposals from all areas of management. The scope of a review should cover a significant area of literature likely to be of interest to scholars in a variety of areas. Proposals to review new research areas in which there are few previously published articles are typically poor candidates for review papers.
*New: Proposals for standalone meta-analysis papers will not be considered for the review paper issues. Rather, standalone meta-analysis papers should be submitted as full original research papers. This does not preclude including a meta-analysis to supplement a review paper, but that review paper must also review and integrate the literature it is focused on to be considered for a review issue. If you wish to submit a meta-analysis paper, please do so as a full original research paper at any time.
Authors can submit proposals between June 1, 2024 and June 30, 2024 by 11:59 pm EASTERN via the JOM online submission portal: http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/jom (select Review Issue as the submission type).
Please note proposals may NOT be submitted until June 1, 2024.
Proposals should be double-spaced, 12-point font, and include no more than seven pages of text. References, tables, and appendices do not count against this page limit. All proposals will be subject to editorial review. Please do not send complete papers - if you have a draft of your paper, you may note that in the proposal.
Submissions will be evaluated with respect to the following criteria and successful proposals tend to speak to these criteria:
    • Relevance. The proposed manuscript should thoroughly review a significant and important research area within the organizational sciences.
    • Viability. The proposal should represent an achievable project within the tight time constraints required. More detail on the timeline is provided below.
    • Scope of Interest. Papers of broad interest to scholars in a variety of specialty areas are greatly preferred.
    • Organization and Coherence. The proposal should follow a logical structure, read clearly, and thoroughly represent the available research.
    • Insight for Future Work. The proposal should convey important implications for future management scholars.
    • Timeliness/Contribution. Reviews should be on topics for which no recent reviews exist, and the proposal should emphasize how the review will contribute to knowledge in that area.
    • Preference will be given to proposals that demonstrate the authors understand the area to be reviewed and have drafted the proposal based on initial (at a minimum) research.
Due to editorial constraints, it is vital for authors to strictly adhere to the following timeline. We cannot consider late proposal submissions. If you have questions, please contact us at journalofmanagementsma@gmail.com.
