Framing Novelty: New perspectives on language and communication in entrepreneurship and innovation research

Dear colleagues,
If you are interested in exploring the potential of language and want to engage with an international community of researchers who study the role of language and communication in entrepreneurship and innovation, consider joining us in Chicago!
Running for the second consecutive year, this PDW explores how the symbolic nature and structural properties of language can shape entrepreneurs' and innovators' efforts to gain support from diverse audiences for their new ideas, products, or projects.
The PDW is structured in two parts.
Part -1: Panel Discussion and Q&A - All are welcome for this session without registration!
The first part will be open to all participants interested in hearing our distinguished panelists presenting their recent work. These experts boast a range of conceptual and empirical expertise that will provide attendees with a well-rounded series of presentations to frame subsequent discussions around the following topics:
1) Reflect on critical issues and opportunities associated with a linguistic perspective and derive both theory-based and practice-based research trajectories
2) Discuss how multi-disciplinary perspectives can enrich these trajectories
3) Discuss innovative approaches and methodologies that could be used to pursue these trajectories.
Part -2: Roundtable Discussion – Participation is limited.
The second half of the PDW will be reserved for those participants who have pre-registered and submitted a short executive summary of a paper they are working on. Current Ph.D. students, postdoctoral fellows, and junior faculty members are strongly encouraged to apply.
Each mentor will be assigned a few papers, allowing participants to benefit from high-quality, tailored feedback from top researchers in this area. Importantly, the PDW is also connected to the special issue "Framing Novelty: A Linguistic Approach to the Understanding of Entrepreneurship, Creativity, and Innovation," to appear in Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal since two of the organizers are among the guest editors. Therefore, participants of the PDW who plan to submit their study for consideration for the special issue will have the opportunity to discuss their work within the groups and receive actionable feedback that can be incorporated into their manuscripts before submission.

EXTENDED ABSTRACT SUBMISSION DETAILS
Extended abstracts should be at least 5 pages (excluding references). They should describe a) the purpose of the study and the research question, b) the data collection and analysis, c) an executive summary outlining the main empirical findings of the study, and d) proposed theoretical contributions.
