The Department of Entrepreneurship and Strategy (ENST) at Lancaster University Management School (LUMS) is seeking to appoint a Professor in Entrepreneurship. Applicants must have an excellent international research profile evidenced through publications in leading/impactful peer-reviewed journals, an international reputation, evidence of significant grant funding and engagement with practice. You will be expected to develop and provide leadership across the subject field through high profile research, teaching and managerial activities and further extend the Department's international networks and collaborations, research profile and its strategy to lead entrepreneurship education, research and practice in the global arena. As a senior scholar, you will be expected to actively support doctoral researchers and junior faculty.

ENST is one of six academic departments within LUMS – a world-ranked international business school which has topped the UK research rankings for nearly two decades. LUMS is one of few business schools whose programmes are accredited by all three international business school accreditation bodies: AMBA, EQUIS and AACSB, and it also holds the Chartered Association of Business Schools Small Business Charter at gold level. At LUMS, we combine the passion for knowledge and ideas, with the distinctive human qualities of a supportive, responsible, and vibrant community.

ENST offers an excellent research environment, with a high level of collegiality, excellent industry links, and a strong seminar series. In the Department, we investigate the initiation, management, and effects of transformation for organisations and places. Our research focuses on entrepreneurial opportunity recognition, opportunity capture and the development of sustainable competitive advantage, and managing and leading these activities responsibly. The shared understanding of our research activities is the emphasis on the "doing and making" ambition. The "doing and making" ambition makes us unique and is absolutely vital for our collaborative activities, as it informs our research, engagement, and teaching, contributing to our vision to be recognised as an international knowledge hub.

Our research ambition of "doing and making" is facilitated through three grand research themes that inform each other: Entrepreneurship, Strategy, and Leadership. In entrepreneurship, our work includes, for example, family business, innovation, franchising, strategic entrepreneurship, and the role of place in the entrepreneurial process. Members of the strategy research theme currently investigate sustainable corporate development and how digitalisation or non-organic growth strategies can result in change and adaptation, leading to long-term survival of organisations. The leadership theme investigates, for example, multiple types of leadership, and the leadership of small businesses. The three research themes inform each other and foster collaboration, enabling us to create real impact.

Our research in ENST is internationally recognised, and members of the Department (including doctoral researchers) publish in leading journals such as Entrepreneurship, Theory & Practice, Journal of Business VenturingStrategic Entrepreneurship JournalJournal of Management StudiesHuman Relations, and Leadership Quarterly, just to name a few. Members of the Department are active contributors to the international academic community, holding key leadership positions in leading academic organisations, as well as Associate Editor and editorial board positions in leading journals.
