We are now accepting Special Issue Proposals that advance cutting-edge research in the Asia Pacific context.

Asia Pacific Journal of Management - Call for Special Issue Proposals
Proposing a Special Issue
The Asia Pacific Journal of Management (APJM) is inviting submissions of special issue proposals for the year 2025. This special issue proposal call is open to all areas of management, including disciplines such as organizational behavior, strategic management, human resource management, entrepreneurship, international business, and research methods. The submitted proposal needs to be highly relevant to the Asia-Pacific context. Please refer to APJM’s latest editorial piece on “Leveraging the Asia-Pacific context to advance management research” for the journal’s vision.
Your proposal should be no more than six pages (including key references) and should contain:
- An executive summary of what are proposed to be covered in the special issue.
- A justification of the need to have the Special Issue.
- An explanation of why the proposed research area is particularly suitable for APJM.
- An estimated timeline for the proposal. A Special Issue should aim to be ready for publication within two to three years of the submission deadline.
- The backgrounds of the proposed Guest Editors, including visibility on the topic and editorial experience.
- A list of scholars who may be interested in submitting or acting as potential reviewers for the Special Issue.
Editing Your Special Issue
Should your proposal be selected, you will receive a decision letter providing feedback on your proposal and you will be assigned an APJM Editor to act as supervising Editor. The APJM Editor will join your editorial team to work with you on your Call for Papers. The APJM Editor will also provide advice on any issues that might arise. All submissions to the Special Issue are subject to the same reviewing and editorial process like the regular papers, via the APJM’s EM. Guest Editors, working alongside the APJM supervising Editor, are expected to ensure that the work done on the Special Issue reflects APJM standards.
It is important to note that Guest Editors are strongly discouraged to publish papers in the Special Issue apart from the introductory piece.
Promoting Your Special Issue
APJM will work with the Guest Editors to increase the visibility of the Special Issue in the months leading up to the submission deadline and post-publication. At the same time, we expect Guest Editors to help circulate the Call for Papers within their own personal networks, social media groups, and at any relevant conferences or workshops that they may attend.
No matter whether it has been suggested as part of the proposal or not, a conference or workshop, possibly held at Guest Editor’s institution or any host institution which would provide funding/facilities, can be done to facilitate submissions or to aid in the development of submitted papers. A symposium or PDW at a well-known conference may also be considered.
Deadline for Submitting Proposal
Please send your proposal to Deputy Editor Siah Hwee Ang at siahhwee.ang@vuw.ac.nz by 31 August 2025.
