TIM Doctoral Student Consortium @ AOM 2018 – Call for applications (Deadline May 1, 2018)

The Technology and Innovation Management Division is now accepting applications from Ph.D. students for its 2018 Doctoral Student Consortium to be held at the Academy of Management meeting in Chicago, IL. The consortium is held on Friday, August 10 and Saturday, August 11.

The TIM doctoral consortium is aimed at Ph.D. candidates interested in conducting leading-edge research and teaching in technology and innovation management, entrepreneurship, strategy and organization and who are preparing for the tenure-track job market. It is organized around two main events:

Job Market Bootcamp: How do I decide which schools to apply to? Which questions do I ask in 1:1 interviews? What do I do about exploding offers? We will spend half of Friday prepping you for the job market, including two Q&A panels with senior faculty as well as "elevator pitch" practice of your job-market paper.

2023andMe: Congrats, you got the dream job! Now you want to get tenure. We will spend the balance of Friday on a five-year visioning exercise (2018 + 5 = 2023) where you will forecast your future research statement and then receive detailed feedback from faculty mentors on how to get there from here.

We will also have a sit-down dinner Friday night overlooking Millennium Park, a keynote address Saturday morning by Kathleen Eisenhardt, and an introduction to the Kauffman Foundation by Lara Arnold.

Faculty members come from a range of stages in career and research institutions. Confirmed to date are the following: Raffaele Conti (Catolica Lisbon), Nilanjana Dutt (Bocconi), Kathleen Eisenhardt (Stanford), Jeff Furman (Boston University), Karin Hoisl (Mannheim University), Olenka Kacperczyk (London Business School), Alex Oettl (Georgia Tech), Larissa Rabbiosi (Copenhagen Business School), Michael Roach (Cornell), Henry Sauermann (European School of Management & Technology).

The application deadline is May 1st, 2018. Only electronic applications will be considered. To apply, please complete the survey on the following link:  https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/TIMdoc2018.

Preference is given to doctoral candidates at later stages of their PhD. For any questions please contact Matt Marx or Myriam Mariani at tim.doctoral.consortium.8@gmail.com.
