    With apologies for cross-posting.

    Dear colleagues,
We invite submissions for abstracts to the International QCA Paper
Development Workshop 2018 (ETH Zurich, 27 November 2018). The workshop
provides a unique platform for researchers working on papers involving
QCA to meet QCA experts, get feedback on their on-going research, and
learn about the latest methodological developments in QCA. The
workshop is interdisciplinary and interactive and allows for in-depth
discussions and individual feedback from internationally renowned QCA
scholars. We invite submission of abstracts from researchers applying
QCA in various domains (e.g., sociology, political science,
management, evaluation studies, international relations, medicine, and
health) as well as policy and business consultants using QCA in their
    work.

This year???s workshop faculty includes among others the following

    Preliminary Workshop Program
The International QCA Paper Development Workshop primarily consists of
roundtable forums for participants to receive detailed feedback from
QCA experts on their ongoing research projects. The roundtable forums
will take place in small groups with approximately two QCA experts and
three to four participants to allow for in-depth discussions. The
workshop program will also include two focused sessions providing
participants with an overview of software packages for conducting QCA
analysis and with practical insights relevant for publishing QCA
papers (e.g., choice of journal, paper structure). We will round up
the workshop with a keynote speech from an established QCA scholar
including drinks to interact and socialize.

    Submission Procedure and Schedule
To participate in the workshop, please submit an extended abstract of
    1,000-1,500 words to jmeuer@ethz.ch by October 7th, 2018. Your
abstract should summarize your study???s topical area, theoretical
background, research gap and question, and include details about the
data, analytical strategy (for empirical papers), and preliminary
results. A panel of QCA experts will review all submissions and
evaluate their fit with the workshop according to clarity of purpose,
methodological rigor, and innovative character of the research. We
will notify applicants no later than October 19th, 2018 about
opportunities to participate. Accepted participants may submit a full
    paper by November 13th, 2018.

    Hosting and Venue
The International QCA Paper Developments Workshop will take place at
ETH Zurich. The workshop is hosted jointly by ETH Zurich, the Swiss
Federal Institute for Aquatic Science and Technology (Eawag), the
University of Bern, the University of Wuppertal, and the University of
    Bamberg.

    Workshop Fees
Participation in the workshop is free of charge. We will provide
coffee, tea, and snacks during breaks. Participants will need to cover
their own travel and accommodation expenses. We will provide a limited
number of hotel rooms at a discounted price and are happy to help find
    suitable accommodation.

The 6th International QCA Expert Workshop
The 6th International QCA Expert Workshop will take place after the
International QCA Paper Development Workshop. Please note that because
the Expert Workshop serves a different purpose, targets a different
audience, and ??? for these reasons ??? is purposefully limited in the
number of participants, participation in the 6th International QCA
Expert Workshop is by invitation only.
