Participating in this year’s Mid-winter Meeting were members of the Entrepreneurship Division’s leadership spanning the globe from Australia, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Norway, Sweden, and the USA.

Throughout the meeting, the leadership focused on planning the Division’s activities and events for 2018 Academy of Management Conference including, in part, planning the Division Plenary session, consortia and social events.

A number of special topics were also discussed at this year’s meeting. One notable special topic centered on the Academy’s new Connect@AOM platform. Connect@AOM, commonly referred to as AOM Connect, is the new online communications community being implemented across Divisions, Academy-wide. At the Mid-winter Meeting, Entrepreneurship Division leaders dedicated several sessions to discussing implications of and uses for the new platform, as well as strategizing the most effective ways of leveraging Connect@AOM features to best benefit the members of the Entrepreneurship Division and beyond.

Other topics that received special attention at the 2018 Mid-winter Meeting included 1) the Emerging Scholars awards, which are new awards for the Division that are being supported by the Kauffman Foundation, 2) ways to serve the interests of members of the Division who are in different stages of their careers (e.g., doctoral students, early-, mid-, and late-career scholars), and establishing mentoring systems for the Division.

The 2018 Entrepreneurship Division Mid-winter Meeting was a productive and fun event for the Division’s leadership, all of whom thank Division Chair, Christina Guenther, Christina’s assistant and doctoral candidate Nicole Gottschalck, and everyone at the WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management for hosting this important annual meeting.
