The Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University is seeking applications for one position at the tenured associate or tenured full level to begin August 2025. The university is looking to further expand its entrepreneurial footprint, at both the undergraduate and graduate level, and this hire is seen as an important part of that effort. We seek candidates who have demonstrated the ability to conduct influential research that would merit tenure at Vanderbilt, as measured by publications in top journals, as well as the ability to teach effectively.
Vanderbilt is expanding its reach and engagement with the region's growing entrepreneurial community. Owen's Center for Entrepreneurship facilitates business creation by developing immersion student experiences, hosting an annual entrepreneurship conference, and creating programming in partnership with Vanderbilt's Wond'ry Innovation Center as well as Nashville's growing entrepreneur community. Vanderbilt also recently established, with Nashville Mayor Freddie O'Connell, the Nashville Innovation Alliance, which seeks to bring together public, private, civic and education institutions to enhance the region's innovation ecosystem.
The Owen Graduate School of Management is engaged in graduate and undergraduate management education, with an enrollment of over 600 students in its MBA, Executive MBA, Master of Science in Finance, Master of Accountancy, Master of Marketing, and Master of Management in Health Care programs. In addition, Owen faculty members teach in the Vanderbilt University undergraduate business minor. Owen enrolls a culturally diverse student body from all parts of the U.S. and 47 countries. Founded in 1873, Vanderbilt University is an internationally recognized research university with a student body of some 13,710 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students, and approximately 1,023 full-time faculty (excluding faculty employed by the Medical Center), of whom 57 have their primary appointment at Owen. The university is situated on a 330-acre campus located a mile and a half south of downtown Nashville.
Home to more than 2.0 million people, the Nashville metropolitan statistical area has over a dozen colleges and universities, including four Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Nashville features many cultural and recreational amenities including a symphony orchestra, professional sports, an extensive park system, hiking and biking trails, exceptional restaurants, and live music offerings across a broad variety of genres. Major industries include healthcare, publishing, insurance and finance, higher education, and music. Nashville is frequently identified as one of the best U.S. cities for work, family, and quality of life by various national publications.
We seek to attract a research active, culturally broad, and intellectually diverse faculty of the highest caliber, skilled in the scholarship of teaching, discovery, application, and integration of knowledge. The University's student body includes 34.9 percent minority students; 11.7 percent of students are international from 94 countries.
