    I have just received my copy of the second edition of Tim Pollock's very practical and accessible book on improving academic writing through storytelling: How to Use Storytelling in Your Academic Writing: Techniques for Engaging Readers and Successfully Navigating the Writing and Publishing Processes. In addition to other enhancements, the new edition covers some topics that I (and other people who made similar comments to Tim) had wished were covered in the first edition. He’s expanded the section about storytelling for other types of writing we frequently do, such as writing grant proposals, research statements and cover letters. He’s also added new chapters on writing developmental journal reviews and dissertations. 
    There are very few of us who wouldn't benefit from improving our ability to get our ideas across in scholarly work. I think most of us can benefit from the lessons in this book.
