We are pleased to announce that Professor Dean A. Shepherd, Ray and Milann Siegfried Professor of Entrepreneurship at the Mendoza College of Business, University of Notre Dame, has been selected as the recipient of the 2025 Global Award for Entrepreneurship Research.

This prestigious award is the foremost international recognition in the field of entrepreneurship research and is presented annually to honor scholars who have made outstanding contributions to the advancement of entrepreneurship as a research field.

Professor Shepherd is recognized for his profound and sustained influence on several central-but traditionally overlooked-aspects of the entrepreneurial process, including entrepreneurial failure, emotions in entrepreneurship, and entrepreneurship under conditions of adversity and environmental hardship. Over nearly three decades, his theoretically rich and methodologically diverse work has shaped key research conversations and inspired scholars across disciplines and continents.

The award ceremony will take place in Stockholm on 2 June 2025.

I am very pleased to see that Professor Dean A. Shepherd has been awarded the 2025 Global Award for Entrepreneurship Research. His scholarly contributions have significantly shaped the field of entrepreneurship and continue to influence and inspire researchers globally. Although I have not had the opportunity to meet him personally, his work has been of great value to my own academic development. This recognition is both well-earned and well-deserved-my sincere congratulations.
