AOM Caucus
Building a Community for Studying Oligarchs
Saturday, August 11th, 2024, 1130am-1pm
Swisshotel in Verbier (Lucerne Level)
The emerging field of oligarch research is growing as the phenomenon has accelerated dramatically since the late 1980s. This research crosses disciplines including business and management studies, economics, sociology, and political science. Oligarchs are a grand challenge that can be compared with global warming, AI, and nuclear war.
The challenges facing oligarch researchers are myriad, including the inherent interdisciplinary of the phenomenon, under-theorization, and research strategies that can successfully address oligarchs' secretive nature. This Caucus seeks to broaden the community of oligarch researchers by making connections with others and forming research collaborations. Following an introduction by the organizers, participants will break out into pods around research challenges and provide a brief report of action items at the end of the Caucus.
