    UNC Public Policy and The Shuford Program in Entrepreneurship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invite applicants to apply for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor rank. Priority will be given to candidates with research and/or professional experience focusing on entrepreneurship/innovation and/or social entrepreneurship/innovation with a capacity to stimulate interdisciplinary research collaboration, teaching and mentoring. The selected candidate will maintain an active program of research and teach courses in Public Policy and the Shuford Program.

    Public Policy (https://publicpolicy.unc.edu/) is an academic unit within the College of Arts & Sciences (CAS). The Shuford Program in Entrepreneurship is an interdisciplinary program affiliated with the UNC Department of Economics. It is the only Entrepreneurship Program in the nation housed within a College of Arts and Sciences. Public Policy and Shuford collaborate on efforts in innovation and entrepreneurship and provide interdisciplinary, immersive, and experiential learning opportunities for students. This is a new position that will align with UNC's entrepreneurial ecosystem (https://innovate.unc.edu/).

    Educational Requirements

    Candidates should have a Ph.D. in business, public policy, management, organizational behavior or related professional and social science disciplines.

    Qualification and Experience

    Candidates should have research interests and/or professional experience in one or more of the following areas: Entrepreneurship/Innovation; Social Entrepreneurship/Socially Responsible Business/Social Innovation; Strategic Management or Organizational Behavior; Business Ethics; Negotiation; Impact Investing or Cross-sectoral (public, private, non-profit) partnerships.

    Additional requirements:

    • At ease teaching in both large (100-400 student) and small classroom environments and in working as a co-instructor with a professor of the practice;
    • Embraces using progressive and innovative approaches to teaching such as the flipped classroom and experiential learning;
    • Interested in the opportunity to collaborate across academic units and serve as a leader in modeling how this role can be effective;
    • Capable of and interested in working with Entrepreneurs-in-Residence (EIRs), Social Entrepreneur-in-Residence (SEIR), and Professors of the Practice on developing, evaluating and implementing curriculum;
    • Interested in pursuing research that advances knowledge on the intersection between public policy and entrepreneurship.
