    Position Description/Summary
    The Department of International Business (School of Business) at the George Washington University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in International Business beginning as early as academic year 2022-2023.

    Job Description and Qualifications
    We are a multidisciplinary group, and encourage applicants who conduct research in international economics, political science, business history, international finance, international strategy, international marketing, or any other field with relevance to international business. The successful candidate will be pursuing research questions that are inherently international, and that place firms or their competitive environment at the center of the analysis. The successful candidate will teach a range of International Business (IB) courses in our undergraduate, masters, and doctoral programs, including Age of Globalization, Introduction to International Business, Competition in the Global Economy, and electives in their area of specialization.

    Basic Qualifications
    Applicants must complete all degree requirements for a doctorate in a field relevant to International Business, such as economics, management, finance, strategy, sociology, political science or a related field, by date of appointment. ABDs will be considered, and if hired, will initially receive a conditional appointment at the rank of Instructor. Applicants must have a demonstrated commitment and ability/potential to conduct high-quality scholarly research publishable in top outlets on topics important to international business, as evidenced by publications in scholarly journals or scholarly works-in-progress or recommendations by respected scholars as research references. Applicants must also demonstrate teaching excellence as indicated by teaching letters of recommendation or teaching assessments. Applicants must have an ability and desire to work effectively with a diverse community, as well as excellent communication skills.

    The Department and University
    The GW IB department is one of the few freestanding IB departments in the US, with 16 full time faculty members. In 2021, the graduate program was ranked #1 among U.S. institutions in the Financial Times Global MBA Top 100 rankings for international business, and U.S. News & World Report ranked GW's undergraduate program #6 in the country. The department houses GW's Masters of Science in International Business program, and also participates in all of GW School of Business programs at the bachelors, masters, and doctoral levels. GW also hosts a Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER), providing extensive resources for international business research, teaching, and outreach on our campus and beyond.
