    The University of Amsterdam is a world-leading, research-intensive, internationally orientated university, highly ranked in both QS World University Rankings and Times Higher Education World University Rankings.

    The Section Entrepreneurship & Innovation at the Amsterdam Business School (ABS) is responsible for teaching, research, and valorisation in the disciplines of entrepreneurship, innovation, and the creative industries. The section has 18 full-time faculty members and has seen a large growth in the past five years.

    The university is looking for an outstanding scholar in entrepreneurship, who is passionate about delivering world-leading research and exceptional student experience. This role is particularly suitable for an enthusiastic academic leader who shows willingness and ability to lead the Section of Entrepreneurship and Innovation and promote the academic talent and career development of junior staff.

    The city of Amsterdam has a vibrant business ecosystem, ranks top 5 in Europe, consists of many startups, scale-ups and global corporations, and thus offers excellent opportunities for collaborations.

     

    Profile of the Professor

    Candidates could be economics scholars (e.g. research to help governmental policymakers) or business scholars (e.g. research to help entrepreneurs and startups)

    • An academic title on at least the level of Associate Professor or equivalent;
    • Excellence in research and teaching: top publications, research grants and outstanding teaching evaluations;
    • A department leader with a clear vision, ability to execute, and willingness to contribute to a pleasant atmosphere in the section and the school;
    • Excellent coaching and mentoring skills to help other researchers;
    • A track record in PhD supervision;
    • Is part of an extensive network in the international entrepreneurship research community;
    • Extra's would be: advisor to the government or other (commercial) organisations on Entrepreneurship; experience in setting-up successful entrepreneurial eco-systems; knowledge of creative industries or social enterprises; founder or advisor to startups; knowledge of Data Science or Artificial Intelligence applied to business areas that are of interest to startups, such as Fintech, Marketing Analytics, People Analytics, etc
