The Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa is seeking applications for one faculty position in Family Business/entrepreneurship commencing on either July 1, 2020 or January 1st, 2021.

The University of Ottawa is a top-ten research-intensive university in Canada and committed to becoming globally recognized for its research in family business. The Telfer School of Management is among the world's elite schools of management, having obtained accreditation from all three of the most prestigious international sanctioning bodies: Assembly of Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) and Association of MBAs (AMBA). The School encompasses a young, vibrant and research-oriented faculty; over the last 5 years, around 50% of its faculty members were hired. The school is now in the process of building a Centre in Family Business that will assume thought leadership and become an internationally leading hub in the field.

Working with a team of scholars and graduate students, your primary roles will be to contribute to research at the intersection of family business, entrepreneurship and management. In addition to scholarly excellence, our faculty members are committed to innovative teaching, and engagement with the community. The faculty with a focus on family business maintains a strong research agenda and publishes in journals such as Academy of Management Review, Academy of Management Annals, Journal of Management, Journal of Management Studies, Journal of Business Venturing, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Family Business Review, Journal of Business Ethics, and Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, to name a few.

Applicants with a secondary interest in entrepreneurship – ideally in community or social entrepreneurship are encouraged to apply. The Telfer School of Management has four Areas of Strategic Importance (ASIs) in research. Family business is part of the ASI in Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Strategic Management. With the current position, we hope to strengthen our research and teaching capacity at the intersection of family business and entrepreneurship.
