Paper development workshop in AOM 2019:
Advancing Research Ideas On International Strategic Alliances

    Application deadline:  June 30, 2019

Research on international strategic alliances (ISAs) represents a large and substantive body of research in the international management, strategic management and broader organizational theory literatures. Recent developments such as the digitalization of economies, ecosystems and platforms, the need for resource and energy efficiency, and intellectual property right claims (e.g., US-China trade war) as well as calls for more micro-foundation, multilevel analyses, and the use of newly accessible contract data offer a wide array of opportunities to advance the field and add to existing knowledge.

The PDW will be held in Boston, Massachusetts on Friday, August 9th 2019 from 4:00pm to 5:30pm at the Hilton Boston Back Bay / Westminister as part of the pre-conference program for the Academy of Management (AOM) annual meeting.

Its primary aim is to provide participants with developmental feedback on their current research papers and facilitate the further development of high quality papers on international strategic alliances with a special interest of directing participants towards focusing on aspects unique to an international setting as well as on practical, conceptual, and methodological developments that affect strategic alliances at large.

Due to the time allocated to the PDW by the sponsoring AOM divisions, theme-specific recommendations regarding successful publication strategies will be provided by renowned scholars in the field (see list of facilitators) in the first third of the PDW. Yet, the main focus will be on an intensive interaction with participants regarding how to improve their research papers, which have been accepted by the workshop organizers and facilitators, so as to increase the probability of acceptance by a leading management journal.

Only a limited number of manuscripts (each applicant should submit only one paper) will be accepted for the PDW. Participants will be invited based on the quality (i.e., scientific rigor and relevance) of their submitted work. Submitted papers should be less than 10,000 words in length and follow commonly accepted style guides.

Proposals should be submitted via the PDW online submission portal at
    https://goo.gl/hfLKb8

The deadline for submissions is June 30, 2019 at 11:59pm MST (GMT-6).
In the course of notification of the results of the review process, we will provide the authors of accepted submissions with the registration code for the PDW.
Please note that authors will need to register for the AOM annual conference in order to participate in the PDW. Also note that other pre-conference workshops and consortia may run in parallel.
