Webinar: Curse or Blessing? The Role of Technology Advancement in Transforming MNE Partnership & Performance

Speaker: Ilya Cuypers (Singapore Management University), Qian (Cecilia) Gu (Georgia State University), Yong Li (University of Nevada)

Time: Jun 3, 2021, 11:00 AM in Eastern Time (US and Canada)

    Description:
Interfirm relationship has played a crucial role in firm’s international expansion and operation. Extant literature has long studied the influences of interfirm relationship on multinational enterprises’ (MNEs) knowledge transfer and innovation outcomes. However, we know much less about how modern technology transforms collaborations between firms and consequently affects MNE performance. For example, advancement in infrastructure and technology such as high-speed railway and 5G communication can profoundly alter the competitive landscape for local and foreign firms. According to a recent McKinsey Global Survey of executives, the COVID-19 crisis has accelerated the digitization of MNEs’ interactions with their global partners by three to four years. Digital disruption has significantly shaped the scope of and the expectations from MNEs’ global partnerships. The purpose of this webinar is to offer a discussion on the impact of technology advancement on MNEs’ global partnership and the influences on partnership strategy and performance.
