    St. Cloud State University seeks applications for a probationary (tenure-track) Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship in the Management and Entrepreneurship Department of the Herberger Business School beginning Fall Semester 2020. In addition to eight undergraduate majors, the School offers an MBA and a Master of Science in Information Assurance.     The incumbent of the position may be either academically qualified, or professionally qualified.

    In order to be considered for tenure, the successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to:  1) teach and/or perform assignment effectively; 2) conduct scholarly achievement or research; 3) continue preparation and study in discipline; 4) contribute to student growth and development; and 5) provide service to the university and community.     Job description:

    Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Entrepreneurship and Management, broadly defined. Potential to teach courses in the MBA program. May need to teach other courses in the Department including Introduction to Professional Management and Strategic Management. Willingness to teach face-to-face, hybrid, and on-line classes. Advise students and provide service to the department, school, and university through participation in standing and ad-hoc committees and workgroups. Contribute to the achievement of all departmental goals. For academically qualified faculty, conduct and publish research in Entrepreneurship, broadly defined, in peer-reviewed journals and present research at conferences. For professionally qualified faculty, serve as advisor to student organization(s), facilitate efforts at engaging the regional entrepreneurship eco-system on and off campus, and facilitate cross-campus initiatives at promoting entrepreneurship.

    Required qualifications:

    For academically qualified faculty:

    • Doctorate in Entrepreneurship, Strategy, Management or related field from an AACSB-accredited university. Advanced ABDs will be considered (must be able to show proof of doctoral degree by appointment date).
    • Evidence of recent publications in peer-reviewed journals. ABDs and new Ph.D. graduates may use conference presentations, current working papers as evidence of their ability to publish in peer-reviewed journals.
    • Evidence of demonstrated ability to teach and work with persons from culturally diverse backgrounds.

    For professionally qualified faculty:

    • MBA from an AACSB accredited business school
    • Minimum of 10 years' entrepreneurial and business management experience with progressively wider supervisory responsibilities
    • Managerial experience in two or more of the following areas: entrepreneurship, small business management, franchising, strategy
    • Evidence of capability at teaching/training and working with persons from culturally diverse backgrounds. 

    Preferred qualifications:

    For academically qualified faculty:

    • Recent teaching experience (with student evaluations) in entrepreneurship or related fields of management at a four-year university including face-to-face, hybrid and on-line.
    • Evidence of active research stream. 
    • Evidence of applying for and obtaining external research funding.

     For professionally qualified faculty:

    • Evidence of capability at teaching/training and working effectively with students, departmental colleagues and others in the university as demonstrated by past collaborative projects.
    • Evidence of successful mentoring to starting entrepreneurs. 
    • Willingness to contribute to student growth and development.
