Academy of Management Annual Meeting, Professional Development Workshop
An Identity Approach to Gender and Immigrant Entrepreneurship: Developing a Research Agenda
Saturday, August 10, 08.00AM-10.00AM,
Boston Marriott Copley Place, Room: Boylston
Session 267
Are you interested in research on women immigrant entrepreneurs? Do you want to meet other scholars doing research on gender and immigrant entrepreneurship, exchange research ideas and develop your research network? Please join us for a PDW seeking to develop network and advance research on gender and immigrant entrepreneurship.
An emerging research interest into women immigrant entrepreneurship acknowledges that the intersection between gender and ethnicity/immigrant status comes with specific challenges and opportunities, not always covered in the separate literatures on immigrant or women entrepreneurs. This PDW brings together scholars interested in this topic for an interactive section to discuss research questions, theoretical perspectives and relevant approaches for further research in this area. Taking an identity formation perspective, the PDW explores theoretical and empirical approaches to the process of women immigrants 'becoming' entrepreneurs. Starting with theoretical insights from the leading scholars already doing research on women immigrant entrepreneurship, continuing with empirical examples from ongoing research by younger scholars, the PDW will thereafter engage the participants in a debate to further develop this important research agenda.
No registration needed.
