The Strategic Management Division will once again sponsor a Mid-Career Consortium at the 2019 Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management. The consortium is designed to be an interactive session where mid-career faculty members will interact with senior faculty in a set of small group discussions on the opportunities and challenges scholars face as they transition from junior to senior scholars.
The Mid-Career Consortium is for STR faculty members who completed their dissertation before August 2014 and have at least five years of academic experience. The objective of the workshop is to facilitate networking and discussion around the unique professional challenges, problems and opportunities facing STR faculty moving into their "Associate Professor Years."
At the Mid-Career Consortium in Boston, participants will interact with a panel of senior faculty members including Phil Bromiley (UC-Irvine), Laura Cardinal (Univ. of South Carolina), Glen Hoetcker (Melbourne BS), Dovev Lavie (Bocconi), Taco Reus (Rotterdam), Violina Rindova (USC) and Kevin Steensma, (Univ. of Washington). We will discuss a range of issues in small groups, including topics such as managing competing demands, changing your outlook/emphasis post tenure, launching a new or reorienting your research focus, when to think about changing schools, and taking on leadership roles. The discussions will be followed by an informal cocktail reception and further conversations.
The 2019 STR Consortium will be chaired by Sucheta Nadkarni (University of Cambridge) and Zeki Simsek (Clemson University). For more information regarding the consortium or to express an interest in participating, please contact Sucheta (email@example.com) or Zeki (ZSIMSEK@clemson.edu). The registration deadline for this consortium is June 15.
We look forward to hearing from you!
