The Department of Strategy and Innovation (SI) at Copenhagen Business School (CBS) is looking for two postdoc researchers. Each postdoc position is time-limited to 2.5 years and connected to the project "PAINT: Multilevel Pathways for Integrating Marginalized Groups" funded by the Carlsberg Foundation. Expected starting date is 1 September 2022.

    About the project:
The PAINT project centers on two understudied groups whose socioeconomic exclusion has major economic and social costs: ex-felons and refugees. It aims to identify levers for their integration by studying, among other questions:
    a) when can entrepreneurship be a vehicle of socioeconomic mobility for individuals with criminal records?
    b) which characteristics of host communities facilitate refugee resettlement?
    c) which firms hire ex-felons and refugees, how do firms perform when they do so, and which interventions may encourage employers to recruit these groups?

Each postdoc position is a 2.5-year position (30 months) with 100% research obligations (i.e. no teaching obligations), starting in September 2022. If the successful applicants wish to teach, some teaching opportunities can be explored within the department. The postdoc researchers will work closely with Vera Rocha from SI. Short research stays at other collaborating institutions and visiting periods hosted by renowned scholars will be included.

The project will leverage the rich Danish registers maintained by Statistics Denmark, advanced econometric methods, and exogenous shocks (e.g., regulatory changes) that can improve the identification of the effects of interest. The ideal candidate for the position will be a recent PhD graduate with strong technical skills in data management and econometric methods and with deep interest in these research questions. Experience with experimental methods is also a strength.

    Qualifications:
    •    Applicants must have completed, or be close to completing, a PhD from an accredited institution in the areas of Economics, Management, Strategy, Innovation, Entrepreneurship, or related. Prior work with large datasets is highly preferable.
    •    A strong quantitative research record (or potential) and first-rate econometric skills. Working knowledge of Stata is desirable.
    •    An excellent academic record and work ethic.
    •    Excellent organizational and communication skills (both oral and written). Proficiency in English.
    •    Enthusiasm for research required. The ideal candidate will be thinking of this position as a platform to build skills towards a research career in the future.
    •    Willingness to move to and live in Denmark.

    Main responsibilities:
    •    Preparing existing datasets for econometric analyses and collaborating in new data collection (survey design and implementation, experimental design and implementation)
    •    Conducting econometrics analyses with micro-level data
    •    Searching and reviewing relevant literature
    •    Contributing to and co-authoring leading journal publications
    •    Engaging with and regularly presenting the progress of their research within internal seminars and external events (e.g., international conferences)
    •    Contributing to other types of research dissemination activities (e.g., project reports, events targeting CBS' stakeholders)
    •    Managing own research and administrative activities according to agreed timelines and deliverables

    Application deadline: 18 March 2022.
