    Entrepreneurship (ENT) Call for Submissions

The Entrepreneurship Division invites paper and symposium proposals for the 2019 Academy of Management Annual Meeting in Boston, 9-13 August 2019. Proposals should fit the domain of the Entrepreneurship Division which includes not only the phenomena of self-employment, new-venture formation, small-business management, innovation, and firm growth but also more general ideas about the recognition, analysis, and exploitation of perceived entrepreneurial opportunities; the nature of novelty, creativity, and innovativeness among individuals and organizations; and how people and groups exercise judgment under uncertainty.

This year's conference theme is "Understanding the Inclusive Organization." Inclusion refers here to organizations, markets, and systems that encourage participation from a broad and diverse set of people and communities. Entrepreneurship and innovation are critical for understanding the emergence of new organizational forms such as platforms and ecosystems, worker empowerment and flatter managerial hierarchies, decentralized and open innovation systems, and similar arrangements that foster inclusion, decentralization, and participation. Platform companies like Uber and Airbnb rely on self-employed entrepreneurs and property owners to provide labor, social media firms to distribute user-generated, rather than firm-generated, content, and large retailers such as Alibaba and eBay to create large communities among independent buyers, sellers, and service providers. Communities, industries, and entire economies are increasingly reliant on a diverse set of entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial ventures to foster growth and development. As such, entrepreneurship is at the forefront <g class="gr_ gr_43 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Grammar multiReplace" id="43" data-gr-id="43"><g class="gr_ gr_45 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling multiReplace" id="45" data-gr-id="45">off</g></g> today's most important social and economic issues.

Submission guidelines and instructions are here. While we are particularly interested in submissions that relate to the conference theme, papers and symposia on any aspect of entrepreneurship are welcome.

Paper and symposium proposals are due Tuesday, January 15, <g class="gr_ gr_49 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Punctuation only-ins replaceWithoutSep" id="49" data-gr-id="49">2019</g> at 5:00 PM ET (NY Time). The submission system will open in late November 2018.

Reviewers needed: We encourage submitters to volunteer to review for the Entrepreneurship division. The Division needs at least 1,500 reviewers and your help is appreciated! The reviewer sign-up system opens in late October 2018.

Division Awards: The Entrepreneurship Division recognizes several best paper awards: best conceptual paper, best empirical paper, best family business paper, and best social entrepreneurship paper, as well as two best dissertation awards.

Submission Process: All submissions must be made through the AOM submission website found at https://aom.org/annualmeeting/submission/. The submission system opens in late November 2018.
