    POSITION: The First-Year Integrated Core (FYIC) Program and the Department of Entrepreneurship in the Farmer School of Business at Miami University invite applications for Visiting Assistant Professor/Instructor to teach a full-time load of classes per semester in ESP 103: Innovation, Creativity & Entrepreneurial Thinking. ESP 103 is part of the required First-Year Integrated Core (FYIC) curriculum for all Farmer School of Business majors. This Visiting Assistant Professor or Instructor is responsible for combining a practitioner's perspective with solid academic foundations to an introductory level course. Position start date is August 16, 2021. 

    BACKGROUND: The FYIC is an innovative four course bundle that teaches students critical skills such as critical thinking, creative thinking, computational thinking & coding, ethical thinking, communication, and collaboration. As an ESP 103 teacher, you will be a part of a team of faculty who working collaboratively to integrate these key skills across all four FYIC classes (BUS 101: Foundations of Business; BUS 102: Foundations of Business Communication; ESP 103: Creativity, Innovation, and Entrepreneurial Thinking; and BUS 104: Introduction to Computational Thinking for Business).     Ranked among the "Top 10 Public Schools for Undergraduate Entrepreneurship Studies" for thirteen consecutive years in The Princeton Review® and Entrepreneur Magazine annual survey of undergraduate entrepreneurship programs, the Department of Entrepreneurship in the Farmer School of Business at Miami University boasts 500 undergraduate entrepreneurship co-majors and minors. Annually, more than 3,200 students-almost 20% of Miami's total full-time undergraduate enrollment-take at least one entrepreneurship course, including students from every Division across the Oxford campus, and hundreds of students participate in one or more of co-curricular programs sponsored by the department. Our innovative curricular and co-curricular programming was awarded the 2020 NASDAQ Center of Entrepreneurial Excellence Award, given annually by NASDAQ and the Global Consortium of Entrepreneurship Centers (GCEC) to the top entrepreneurship program/institute in the world. Past winners of the award include the University of Chicago, University of California-Berkeley, Stanford University, MIT, and Columbia University, among others. This programming combines strong academic scholarship with immersive, practice-based learning opportunities for students in startup and venture capital, social entrepreneurship and impact investing, corporate innovation and technology commercialization, and creativity and entrepreneurial thinking.

    Distinguishing features of both programs include small class sizes and teacher-scholars with work experience that deliver personalized learning, an interdisciplinary focus that engages students from every undergraduate major across campus, immersive, practice-based experiential learning opportunities in every class.

    REQUIRED: Doctorate in business, creative studies or a closely related discipline for appointment as Visiting Assistant Professor; Master's degree in business, creative studies or a closely related discipline and five years of entrepreneurial experience in start-up, corporate, creative, or social entrepreneurship for appointment as Instructor; teaching experience and practical experience in areas related to creativity, applied imagination, and/or entrepreneurship; strong interpersonal and collaborative skills; ability to communicate effectively with first-year students through senior level faculty / administrators. Position is not eligible for H-1B sponsorship. 

    DESIRED: Consideration will be given to candidates with two years of excellence in teaching or evidence of teaching potential in an area related to entrepreneurship; demonstrated experience as an exceptional teacher at the undergraduate level; at least ten years of entrepreneurial experience in start-up, corporate, creative, or social entrepreneurship; combination of education and professional experiences around innovation, organizational change, problem solving, design, or idea generation.
