    Call for PhD Applications in the field of Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management

    We call for applications for our doctoral program at Aalto University School of Business in the field of Entrepreneurship by January 10, 2019 by 12:00 o'clock (Finnish time, GMT +2).  

    Aalto University School of Business is the leading business school in Finland and one of the top schools in Europe, established in 1911. It is strongly dedicated to research excellence. 

    Research within the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management Unit of the Aalto University School of Business

    Research undertaken by the faculty, post-docs and PhDs of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management Unit is pronouncedly multi-disciplinary and inclusive, applying theories and methods from management, economics, psychology, sociology and geography to diverse entrepreneurial phenomena.

    Our research is conducted according to the highest standards of quality recognized within the management field, and featured in a range of top journals such as Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Academy of Management Perspectives, Journal of Business Venturing, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice and journals of adjacent disciplines (Journal of Economic Geography, Regional Studies). Our research output has also frequently been the recipient of significant paper awards (Academy of Management, ISBE) and prestigious research funding (Academy of Finland, Tekes).

    What do we offer

    We offer an English-language four-year doctoral program in Business for selected candidates with a demonstrable potential for conducting excellent research and a strong interest in establishing themselves in an academic career path. Within our program, we provide doctoral courses and supervision in an attractive, collegial and friendly international work environment. Our aims are to make your stay at the Aalto School of Business rewarding and to provide you with an excellent foundation for your future career in academia. Full time doctoral students will receive an after tax salary of approximately 25,000 € (depending on other income and tax deductions) in years 1 and 2. From year 3 onwards the doctoral students are expected to find their own funding, either as a paid researcher or from foundations. In Finland there are numerous foundations that support doctoral research. The School may also offer some fully paid doctoral researcher positions for best applicants.

Helsinki has been praised as one of the world's most livable cities, e.g., by Monocle Magazine and in the Economist Intelligence Unit livability rankings. As for Finland, the country is consistently ranked highly in quality-of-life studies. It was the best country in the world according to the World Happiness Report 2018.
