The Faculty of Management (FOM) at the University of British Columbia Okanagan invites applications from outstanding candidates for a 2-year position as a postdoctoral research fellow in entrepreneurship and/ or processes of value creation.  A postdoctoral fellow must commence the appointment within five years of being awarded a Ph.D.

The post doctoral fellow will work within the Faculty of Management at UBCO, which employs approximately 15 tenured/ tenure track faculty.  UBC consistently ranks within the top 30 universities in the world so its Okanagan campus is a small campus with a big reputation.  Faculty of Management professors are truly diverse in their expertise and produce research that ranges from predicting consumer habits to advising policy makers in the creation of effective corporate governance policies. Faculty research seeks to improve the business world by answering tough questions and providing solutions that any company or organization can utilize.

We can tailor the research activity to the candidate's own interests but ideally, his or her interests would be within the domain of entrepreneurship.  In particular, a candidate researching processes of new venture formation and commercialization of intellectual property would be valuable to the Faculty of Management.  Research interests in social entrepreneurship and workplace spirituality would also be of interest for this appointment.

The position is ideal for a person wanting to develop a strong publication portfolio.  The university has an excellent research reputation and we expect the successful candidate to contribute to this reputation.

The contract is for a 2-year period, and includes teaching 1 course per semester.  UBCO is located in Kelowna, a city of approximately 140,000 in the midst of mountains, lakes, vineyards, and orchards in the beautiful Okanagan region of British Columbia (www.tourismkelowna.com/plan/about/).

Equity and diversity are essential to academic excellence.  An open and diverse community fosters the inclusion of voices that have been underrepresented or discouraged.  We encourage applications from members of groups that have been marginalized on any grounds enumerated under the B.C. Human Rights Code, including sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, racialization, disability, political belief, religion, marital or family status, age, and/or status as a First Nation, Metis, Inuit, or Indigenous person.

All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however Canadians and permanent residents will be given priority.
