James Clark Coffman Distinguished Chair of Entrepreneurial Studies

The John Chambers College of Business and Economics (B&E) at West Virginia University invites applications for the James Clark Coffman Distinguished Chair of Entrepreneurial Studies.  This appointment will begin on or about August 15, 2019 and will be made at the rank of associate or full professor, with a recommendation for tenure.  The title of James Clark Coffman Distinguished Chair of Entrepreneurial Studies is awarded for a five-year period and is renewable.  Salary and benefits are AACSB-competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Entrepreneurship, Management, or a closely related discipline.  The successful candidate should have extensive experience in practitioner-oriented, entrepreneurial and innovation activities; for example, working with an entrepreneurship center, accelerator program, or incubator; having launched successful start-ups as owner or entrepreneur; or have extensive experience for management, innovation or entrepreneurship consultant activities related to succesful start-ups. The successful candidate should also be a thought leader in the field of Entrepreneurship, or show a deep understanding of the field,  having demonstrated excellence in research (including applied and practitioner focus), teaching, and service activities related to entrepreneurship and innovation.

The James Clark Coffman Chair will play a key role in West Virginia University's strategic vision for entrepreneurship and innovation by working closely with the John Chambers College of Business and Economics' Startup Engine and Brickstreet Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. He or she will also engage in outreach within the broader context of the University's IDEA Hub and throughout West Virginia to support the growth of entrepreneurial activities in the state. These broader outreach duties may include supervising student experiential learning engagements with businesses, consulting with local businesses, and advising government agencies. The James Clark Coffman Chair will take a leadership role in curriculum development and delivery in the Entrepreneurship and Innovation major.  Instructional duties may include teaching undergraduate courses with opportunities to also contribute in graduate level programs across the spectrum of degrees offered by the Chambers College. The James Clark Coffman Chair will contribute to the research mission of the Chambers College by supporting those engaged in high-quality, scholarly and/or applied research in the field of Entrepreneurship and should also work with others to be a contributor herself/himself in these same dimensions.
