The Department of Management, University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC), invites applications from qualified candidates for a full-time, tenure stream appointment in the area of Strategic Management. The appointment will be at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, with an expected start date of July 1, 2022, or shortly thereafter.
The University of Toronto Scarborough is implementing a new Strategic Plan: Inspiring Inclusive Excellence. Consistent with the values and objectives in that plan, we especially welcome candidates who self-identify as Indigenous or those who have lived experience in Black or other racialized (persons of colour) communities. This position is part of a cohort of similar faculty searches in Arts, Culture and Media, Sociology, and Management. New colleagues will have the opportunity to be connected with previous cohorts of faculty from under-represented groups, including those hired through targeted efforts in the last two year in departments spanning the Sciences, Social Sciences, and Humanities.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Strategic Management, or a closely related area and have demonstrated exceptional record of research and teaching expertise in strategic management. Particular attention will be given to applicants with a focus on corporate strategy, innovation, and entrepreneurship. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate excellence in research and teaching that complement and enhance our existing departmental strengths and that will advance the values and objectives associated with the UTSC commitment to Inclusive Excellence.
Responsibilities include advancing the area's research agenda; helping to revitalize the strategic management specialist for the undergraduate students as well as teaching the undergraduate students at the University of Toronto Scarborough; and active involvement in graduate student education and training through the Joseph L. Rotman School of Management. The Department of Management at the University of Toronto Scarborough is highly research oriented and seeks to attract the best candidates.
The successful candidate must demonstrate evidence of established and sustained research excellence through a submitted research statement, ongoing innovative and independent research of international reputation, an outstanding record of publications in leading peer-reviewed journals in strategic management, as well as their base discipline of study, a highly successful track record of research funding, presentations at significant conferences, distinguished awards and accolades, and other noteworthy activities that contribute to the visibility and prominence of the discipline, as well as three letters of recommendations which provide strong endorsements from referees of high standing.
Candidates are expected to provide demonstrable evidence of teaching excellence, including accomplishments in program and curriculum development, pedagogical innovations, undergraduate and graduate student mentoring and supervision, and effective teaching through a teaching dossier (including a teaching statement, sample course outlines and related materials, and teaching evaluations). Applicants must also show evidence of a commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and the promotion of a respectful and collegial learning and working environment, as demonstrated through the application materials.
The successful candidate will be a member of the tri-campus Graduate Department of Management at the University of Toronto, will be cross-appointed to the Rotman School of Management, and will be expected to participate in the Graduate Department of Management's graduate programs.Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
