    PROGRAM OVERVIEW

At the heart of any important socioeconomic issue – economic growth, income inequality, international trade, technology innovation, environmental sustainability, immigration, or the opioid crisis – are organizations making strategic choices about how to achieve competitive advantages with scarce resources.  Strategy scholars at the University of Michigan's Ross School of Business study these choices and their impacts on society.

Doctoral students in the Ross Strategy Area are trained in rich, inter-disciplinary theories and rigorous empirical methods for understanding why businesses behave as they do and what the consequences of those behaviors are for society. The program emphasizes rigorous coursework, close collaboration with faculty, and socialization of students into career opportunities focused on research and teaching.

Recent placements include Wharton, Bocconi, London Business School, National University of Singapore, and many more.

    OPPORTUNITIES

We also encourage you to visit the Ross doctoral program website for prospective students, the Michigan Ross Bridges to Doctoral Fellows Program, and the Summer Research Opportunity Program for undergraduate students.

The Ross Strategy Area embraces the tradition and the commitment of the University of Michigan's Rackham Graduate School to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion. This is evidenced not only in the demographic and intellectual composition of our student body but also in our efforts to recruit, train, retain, and place our students so that they might increase the diversity of business school faculty on a global scale. Candidates with diverse backgrounds and experiences are strongly encouraged to apply.

Hope to see you at our virtual info session on November 17, 2020!
