ISE (Innovation, Strategy, & Entrepreneurship) Paper Development Workshop

The ISE Research Group at Macquarie Business School would like to invite applications for a half-day paper development workshop on March 27th, 2020 from 9am to 2pm. Hear from SMJ's Associate Editor Gerry McNamara (Michigan State University), Sabina Nielsen (USYD), and Mariano Heyden (Monash, DECRA Awardee) about the review process and publishing in leading ISE journals.

This workshop has a very practical, hands-on orientation aimed at increasing the chances to get your paper published in a top-tier journal. Discussants will provide one-on-one feedback to participants on aspects that are often significant barriers to publishing: (i) Asking the right questions; (ii) Identifying a significant theoretical contribution; and (iii) Framing and positioning the study. As such, participants will be challenged to answer questions such as:

    (1)   Who is the audience? What is the topic or research question, and why is it interesting and important in theory and practice?

    (2)   What do we know, what don't we know, and so what? What key theoretical perspectives and empirical findings have already informed the topic or question? What major, unaddressed puzzle, controversy, or paradox does this study address, and why does it need to be addressed?

    (3)   What will we learn? How does your study fundamentally change, challenge, or advance scholars' understanding?

Discussants for this workshop include Gerry McNamara, Sabina Nielsen, Mariano Heyden, Francesco Chirico, Erik Lundmark, Ralf Wilden, and others from Macquarie Business School and other universities.

If interested, register your interest by February 12th, 2020 and send us the title and abstract of your paper. Full papers are due by March 9th, 2020. Please, consider that we will only have space for a limited number of papers.

The full paper must not exceed 40 pages in total (including references, Tables, Figures, Appendices; Times News Roman 12-point font, double spaced, 1-inch (2.5 cm) margin all around). Abstracts and full papers should be submitted to Ralf Wilden (ralf.wilden@mq.edu.au" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ralf.wilden@mq.edu.au) and Francesco Chirico (francesco.chirico@mq.edu.au" target="_blank" rel="noopener">francesco.chirico@mq.edu.au). Please clearly indicate on the first page the author names, title, and abstract.

    Best regards,

Ralf Wilden - Associate Professor of Strategy & Innovation, Global Representative of the Strategic Management Division (Academy of Management)
