    POSITION: The Farmer School of Business and the John W. Altman Institute for Entrepreneurship at Miami University invite applications for Assistant Director of Research for the John W. Altman Institute for Entrepreneurship. The Assistant Director of Research will have a range of responsibilities related to advancing academic research in the Farmer School's Entrepreneurship Department and the John W. Altman Institute for Entrepreneurship, directly related to the Altman Institute's Leading the Integration of Faith and Entrepreneurship (L.I.F.E.) Research Lab. These activities will include conducting literature reviews, developing research protocols, securing potential research sites, assisting in data collection and analysis, and proofreading manuscripts before submission to academic management and entrepreneurship journals. It includes assisting in developing presentations for research presentations and revising manuscripts after receiving reviews from academic journals, as well as translating academic research to practitioner audiences. This also includes the development, promotion, and execution of research-related events including research presentations, Distinguished Entrepreneurial Scholar Lecture Series, and a research conference related to faith and entrepreneurship.

    Duties include and are not limited to the following:

    • Assisting with all activities for the ongoing development of L.I.F.E., including research activities and student experiences
    • Advancing current and new research projects and activities
    • Building and executing current and new research activities such as a research conference
    • Increasing engagement with Miami alumni and donors related to academic research
    • Assisting with external communications and translation of research to practitioners
    • Supporting academic coursework related to research on faith and entrepreneurship
    • Other duties as assigned

    BACKGROUND: Established at Miami University in 2018 and led by the John W. Altman Institute for Entrepreneurship's Center for Social Entrepreneurship, the Leading the Integration of Faith and Entrepreneurship (L.I.F.E.) Research Lab was founded to provide practically-relevant knowledge at the intersection of faith and entrepreneurship. L.I.F.E's research, open to all faiths and inter-faith examinations, builds on Miami University's leadership position in interdisciplinary, practice-based entrepreneurship education and in the areas of social entrepreneurship and impact investing. Increasing interest in this area from schools, such as Princeton University's faith and work initiative, and entrepreneurial organizations, such as OCEAN's faith-based startup accelerator, affirm the early stages of an important movement.

    REQUIRE: Bachelor's degree, with coursework in business, entrepreneurship or academic research; interest in academic research;  experience and understanding of entrepreneurship (as demonstrated by coursework or professional experience); excellent written / oral presentation and organization skills; ability to work irregular hours including evenings and weekends; and ability to travel.  Position not eligible for H1B status.

    DESIRE: Considerations may be given to candidates with a Master's degree, Ph.D. or D.B.A., at least 1 year of experience in academic research, experience translating academic research to practitioner audiences, experience with faith and entrepreneurship ecosystem, experience developing and promoting new programs or events, and scholarly research experience.
