    POSITION: The Department of Entrepreneurship in the Farmer School of Business at Miami University invite applications for the Richard A. Forsythe Chair of Entrepreneurship (Assistant/Associate Teaching Professor or Assistant/Associate Lecturer, non-tenure track position) to begin Fall Semester 2021. The Richard A. Forsythe Chair of Entrepreneurship will have a range of teaching, service, and advising responsibilities in the Department of Entrepreneurship. Successful candidates will possess demonstrated skills in engaging with the business community to promote innovation and entrepreneurship practice, excellent leadership ability demonstrated through a distinguished career of progressively increasing responsibilities and experiences, and a strong commitment to teaching excellence.


    Assistant/Associate Teaching Professor or Assistant/Associate Lecturer will have primary teaching responsibilities in the areas of Entrepreneurship and Corporate Innovation. The primary responsibility is to teach undergraduates in areas including corporate innovation and strategy, entrepreneurial leadership and developing high performing innovation teams, entrepreneurial finance, and enterprise consulting. Position is required to recruit and select clients for the Entrepreneurship program's Corporate Innovation (ESP 341) and Enterprise Consulting (ESP 461) courses and to oversee and support student teams on engagements with each company. Position is also expected to provide support for co-curricular events sponsored by the Department of Entrepreneurship, advise and mentor students and student teams, and assist with student recruiting/retention.

    BACKGROUND: Ranked among the "Top 10 Public Schools for Undergraduate Entrepreneurship Studies" for thirteen consecutive years in The Princeton Review® and Entrepreneur Magazine annual survey of undergraduate entrepreneurship programs, the Department of Entrepreneurship in the Farmer School of Business at Miami University boasts 500 undergraduate entrepreneurship co-majors and minors. Annually, more than 3,200 students-almost 20% of Miami's total full-time undergraduate enrollment-take at least one entrepreneurship course, including students from every Division across the Oxford campus, and hundreds of students participate in one or more of co-curricular programs sponsored by the department. Our innovative curricular and co-curricular programming was awarded the 2020 NASDAQ Center of Entrepreneurial Excellence Award, given annually by NASDAQ and the Global Consortium of Entrepreneurship Centers (GCEC) to the top entrepreneurship program in the world. Past winners of the award include the University of Chicago, University of California-Berkeley, Stanford University, MIT, and Columbia University, among others. This programming combines strong academic scholarship with immersive, practice-based learning opportunities for students in startup and venture capital, social entrepreneurship and impact investing, corporate innovation and technology commercialization, and creativity and entrepreneurial thinking.

    Distinguishing features include small class sizes and teacher-scholars with founder experience that deliver personalized learning, an interdisciplinary focus that engages students from every undergraduate major across campus, immersive, practice-based experiential learning opportunities in every class and in every co-curricular program, and integration with entrepreneurial ecosystem builders across the U.S. Our goal is to embed entrepreneurial thinking in every major-from business, science, engineering, and technology to the humanities and the arts.

    REQUIRED: Applicants must have earned a Master's degree for rank of Assistant/Associate Lecturer or doctorate for rank of Assistant/Associate Teaching Professor in business, entrepreneurship, or a related field by the time of appointment; 10 years of experience in the private sector; excellent written and oral presentation skills; ability to work irregular hours including evenings and weekends; and ability to adapt within corporate innovation and entrepreneurial start-up environments. This position is not eligible for H-1B sponsorship.

    DESIRED: Consideration may be given to candidates with experience engaging with clients from a variety of industries, organizations, and/or disciplines; experience teaching corporate innovation and/or leadership to students and/or colleagues; experience teaching professional skills (e.g. teamwork, project management, agile or scrum) to students and/or colleagues.
