    The Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University is seeking applications for a tenure-track position in the Strategy and Business Economics group to begin August 2022. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in strategic management or closely related field from an AACSB accredited university. Although we anticipate hiring at the junior level (ABD applicants should expect completion by the time of appointment), experienced assistants and associates will also be considered. We seek candidates with strong training in empirical methods, like econometrics, and the ability to publish in top strategy journals. Preference will be given to candidates with secondary training in economics and additional research interests in the areas of innovation, technology management, entrepreneurship and / or health care. Teaching experience in strategic management is also a plus.

     

    The Owen Graduate School of Management is engaged in graduate and undergraduate management education, with an enrollment of over 600 students in its MBA, Executive MBA, Master of Science in Finance, Master of Accountancy, Master of Marketing, and Master of Management in Health Care programs. In addition, Owen faculty members teach in the Vanderbilt University undergraduate business minor. Owen enrolls a culturally diverse student body from all parts of the U.S. and 40 countries. Founded in 1873, Vanderbilt University is an internationally recognized research university with a student body of some 13,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students, and approximately 1,460 full-time faculty (excluding faculty employed by the Medical Center), of whom 50 have their primary appointment at Owen. The university is situated on a 330-acre campus located a mile and a half south of downtown Nashville.

     

    Home to more than 1.9 million people, the Nashville metropolitan statistical area has over a dozen colleges and universities, including four Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Nashville features many cultural and recreational amenities including a symphony orchestra, professional sports, an extensive park system, hiking and biking trails, exceptional restaurants, and live music offerings across a broad variety of genres. Major industries include healthcare, publishing, insurance and finance, higher education, and music. Nashville is frequently identified as one of the best U.S. cities for work, family, and quality of life by various national publications.
