  • 1.  Two Postdoc Positions in Digital Transformation at the University of Southeastern Norway (USN)

    Posted 11-19-2021 06:45

The positions are open for candidates with a background in innovation, entrepreneurship, marketing, business, management, industrial engineering, industry-oriented life sciences or their equivalent and are placed within the groups of researchers at USN studying digital transformation. This mainly include two sub-groups of researchers with extensive portfolios of research projects on digital transformation in service sectors headed by professor Per Egil Pedersen and high-tech manufacturing industries headed by professor Vinit Parida, respectively. In total, the groups constitute 15 researchers ranging from PhD students and postdocs to experienced senior professors.

Together with the other 15 researchers of the digital transformation project teams, you will work in research projects that aim to influence the future of production, distribution, and consumption in a more sustainable direction. You will take part in advanced analyses of how new industry ecosystems form and evolve and will be given opportunities to build a successful career based on advanced qualitative and quantitative methods and internationally respected publications within the broad field of management research.

The first position is open for alignment with the projects in the portfolio of the research group on digital transformation in the service sectors, but will align particularly well with the challenges of one of the projects managed by this group:  "DISRE - Data Driven Innovation in Speciality Retail Ecosystems". This project aims to explore how data sharing in speciality retailing ecosystems may provide a foundation for innovative and more sustainable service offerings to end consumers. This project includes two work packages where different candidate profiles may be relevant: One work package address concept design applying service design methods in service systems and the other address the identification, measurement and development of data driven innovation capabilities in ecosystems.

The second position is open for alignment with the projects in the portfolio of the research group on digital transformation in manufacturing industries such as the project Autonomous Systems in Transport and Industrial Processes (AUTOSTRIP), but this position will align particularly with the challenges the projects: AI Enabled Transition to Circular Business Models for Norwegian Industrial Ecosystems (AI-CBMI). This project explores the transformations required of industrial companies when new technologies like AI support business model innovations at the ecosystem rather than the company level and when circularity and sustainability at the ecosystem level become an inherent characteristic of such new business models. Project partners include manufacturing industry partners like Kongsberg, Scania, and Volvo are already involved in the portfolio of projects held by the research groups.

For both positions, the applicants must have a Norwegian doctorate or equivalent education abroad in innovation, entrepreneurship, marketing, business, management, industrial engineering, industry-oriented life sciences or their equivalent. Further requirements are specified in the announcements linked above.
