    Description
Across different streams of literature in entrepreneurship and strategy, significant scholarly attention has been paid to the role of "knowledge context", where individuals identify their entrepreneurial ideas or accumulate resources as the basis for new venture formation (Agarwal & Shah, 2014). Scholars have pointed to the heterogeneity of these contexts (i.e., academic, corporate, employee, user) and highlighted that this heterogeneity might be a source of competitive advantage for new entrants. However, contributions have often been carried out in isolation and independent from each other, and only recently increasing attention has been devoted to the identification of the sources of heterogeneity as well as to the consequences of such heterogeneity for the performance of new ventures originating from different knowledge contexts. This PDW intends to bring together scholars interested in academic, corporate, employee, and user entrepreneurship to review these recent contributions, find a common thread, and identify some avenues for future developments. This would deepen and broaden our understanding of the role of knowledge context as an important driver of entrepreneurship and new firms' creation.

    PDW Format
The PDW consists of two very interactive sessions. First, a panel of leading scholars will discuss important issues pertaining to organizational endowments and how heterogeneity in firms' resources in the form of pre-entry capabilities leads to heterogeneity in their performance outcomes. The second part of this PDW will feature two parallel paper feedback sessions in which admitted scholars will receive feedback on their submitted papers from distinguished scholars in the field.
