Kauffman's ESHIP ecosystem building effort!

Dear colleagues friends – how many of you are aware of Kauffman's ESHIP initiative to support and create great ecosystem builders? If not, for 2 years they've convened hundred of good ecosystem builders across the country [https://www.kauffman.org/the-eship-summit/overview] . In 2018, they crystallized 7 BHAWGs... [https://www.kauffman.org/the-eship-summit/goals] then shanghaied recruited a dozen-plus ESHIP Champions [https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/so-what-eship-heck-champion-norris-krueger/] to drive action on these goals.

Honored to be named a Champion and my focus is Goal 5 which centers on supporting evidence-based practice, especially metrics. A wonderful team is in place (it's not just me, not even close, I'm just the boffin-in-residence) and we are slowly recruiting more talented researchers. Hence this note...

Are YOU a researcher who is also an ecosystem builder at home? This is very much a Brad Feld-ish bottom-up, entrepreneur-led effort and that includes this. If you study ecosystems top-down or if you're perched in the ivory tower, you're probably not for us. But if you ARE studying entrepreneurship bottom-up and you spend a lot of time immersed in your local ecosystem... and helping them... WE WANT YOU! (Junior scholars most welcome...

If interested, email me [the unimaginative norris.krueger[at]gmail] and I'll give you the full 411. Goal 5 has 5 subgoals – so if any of these appeal, let me know.

5.1 Killer Metrics: develop & test best-in-class metrics, espec. predictive [cf. www.bit.ly/HowManyEs ]

5.2 the ESHIP Model of Ecosystem Growth: develop and test dynamic models of ecosystem evolution

5.3 Evidence-Based Good Practice: identify and rigorously test proven practices in entrepreneur/ecosystem development

5.4 Ecosystem Research Conference: design and deliver a conference bringing together the best researchers, academic and practitioner  [think http://www.bit.ly/2019ecosysPDW but even better!]

5.5 Data Collection: design, deliver, and analyze surveys for ecosystem builders

For example, the team has concluded that we will need to do some systematic lit reviews – might be a great opportunity for junior scholars. However, age & wisdom are no disqualifier either. ;)

When you look at the 7 Goals [https://www.kauffman.org/the-eship-summit/goals] if another goal appeals to you, also let me know & I'll hook you up.

    Entrepreneur Up!
