    POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT AND DESCRIPTION
    Haslam College of Business
    University of Tennessee, Knoxville  
    Two Assistant/Associate Faculty Positions, Department of Management
     
    The University of Tennessee's Haslam College of Business invites applications for two tenure-track positions in the Department of Management.  The Knoxville campus of the University of Tennessee is seeking candidates who have the ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the Department, as well as to the diversity and intercultural goals of the University. The effective date of employment is August 1, 2020, or when filled. Compensation will be competitive. 
     
    Qualifications
    Required: Candidates must hold a Ph.D. from an accredited institution and demonstrate evidence of quality scholarship and teaching effectiveness in entrepreneurship, human resources, organizational behavior, organization theory, strategic management, or a related discipline. The Ph.D. must be earned by August 1, 2020. 
     
    Preferred: Our preferred candidates will possess
    ·       A record of publications in premier refereed journals.
    ·       A strong background in research methods.
    ·       A desire to work with doctoral students.
    ·       The ability to complement and extend our faculty's research interests.
    ·       A record of demonstrated teaching success at an accredited institution.
    ·       The ability to contribute to the diversity and intellectual climate of the Department and University.
    ·       For one position a focus on strategy and/or organization theory (firm level); for one position a focus on organizational behavior and/or human resources (micro- or meso-level). Entrepreneurship research at these levels of analysis is welcome.

    ·       We prefer applications from Assistant or Senior Assistant level candidates.

    Essential duties and responsibilities 
    Engage in research that results in premier publications.  Teach undergraduate and graduate courses.  Participate in professional and university service activities commensurate with faculty rank.
     
    Haslam College of Business and Department Background 
    The Haslam College of Business is AACSB accredited, with over 130 faculty serving approximately 5,500 undergraduate and graduate students. The Haslam College of Business is well-funded with a $145 million current endowment. Classes are taught in the state-of-the-art James A. Haslam II Business Building, which opened in 2009.   
     
    The Department of Management offers two undergraduate degrees, a master's degree in management and human resources, a minor in entrepreneurship, and the Ph.D. degree in Strategy, Entrepreneurship, & Organizations. Our research faculty members include Melissa Cardon, Russell Crook, David Gras, Terry Leap, Alex Miller, Tim Munyon, Tim Pollock, Codou Samba, Anne Smith, and Dave Williams. Our faculty have published in top journals including AMJ, AMR, AMP, ASQ, ETP, JAP, JBV, JIBS, JMS, JOM, ORM, Org Science, PPsych, and SMJ.
     
    The Knoxville Area
    Knoxville is located in east Tennessee, with a metro area of more than 850,000. Knoxville enjoys a mild climate, a beautiful and walkable downtown, varied nightlife, active neighborhoods, eclectic shopping and restaurants, and a low cost of living.  Knoxville is home to several large corporations and located within easy driving distance to Oak Ridge National Laboratory, the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, Asheville, Nashville, and Atlanta. 
     
    Application Procedure 
    We will begin to review applications immediately, and candidates applying by August 1, 2019 will receive a complete review of their credentials.  We will conduct preliminary interviews at the Academy of Management conference in Boston or via videoconference, and will continue to review applications until the positions are filled. We also encourage applicants to informally speak with faculty attending the conference.
