2022 USASBE Doctoral Consortium for Teaching and Learning in Entrepreneurship

Academic careers involve both research and teaching, yet many doctoral consortia emphasize only traditional research. The USASBE Doctoral Consortium for Teaching & Learning Entrepreneurship is different, however. With the help of leading faculty in the discipline, the 2022 USASBE consortium will immerse students in the world of teaching and learning entrepreneurship, preparing them to both boldly teach in the field as well as engage thoughtfully with entrepreneurship scholarship.

The 2022 USASBE Doctoral Consortium will be held completely online over the course of four months. It will begin with a two-hour group meeting as part of the hybrid USASBE 2022 Annual Conference taking place January 5-9, 2022. Following this kickoff event, participants will take part in a number of exciting workshops and panel discussions throughout February, March, and April. Workshops will be on topics related to pedagogy, student assessment, entrepreneurship education research, translation of traditional research to education, as well as an interactive career panel. Building community through shared experiences is an important component of the USASBE Doctoral Consortium. Each participant will be

    • matched with a dedicated mentor (leading entrepreneurship scholar/educator)
    • assigned to a team (3-4 participants) to work on an entrepreneurship education and pedagogy group project with one of the editors from Entrepreneurship Education & Pedagogy. Team assignments will be based on shared interests and developed through an activity held during the kickoff meeting in January. Final project outcomes will be presented during a virtual Demo Day in May.

    Program Details:

    • A distinguished group of as many as 20 Ph.D. students will be selected to participate in this year's consortium.
    • Participants must be doctoral students who are emerging entrepreneurship scholars and who will be pursuing academic careers in entrepreneurship.
    • Only one applicant per university will be accepted.
    • Registration fees for the USASBE 2022 Virtual Event as well as the cost of a one-year USASBE membership will be covered for all accepted consortium participants.
    • In addition, USASBE will provide scholarships (conference registration and accommodation for up to two nights) to a select number of participants to attend the USASBE 2022 Annual Conference in Raleigh, NC (January 5-9, 2022) in person.
