    Dear Colleagues,

You are cordially invited to join us for our Symposium at the Academy of Management Annual Meeting in Chicago:

Management in the Age of Machine Intelligence
    Monday, 13 August 2018
    11:30AM - 1:00PM
Marriott Chicago Downtown - Magnificent Mile in Scottsdale

An emerging consensus in the field of economics, management, and organizations is that recent developments in data collection, organization, and computation will dramatically transform the modern organization. Some have argued that humans will always play a unique  - and non-substitutable role  - within organizations. However, others have suggested that machines will come to dominate all aspects of organizational life and that there are no "higher order organizational tasks" that machines cannot, in principle, handle.

A diverse collection of scholars from economics, strategy, organization theory, and law will briefly present their views about how machine intelligence impacts conceptual and empirical research in their respective fields. These presentations will catalyze a moderated panel discussion and what we hope will be a lively and active audience Q&A session. We hope to engender and informative, provocative, and productive dialogue that pushes our collective thinking forward as our field divines where, precisely, the boundaries between machine and human intelligence in organizations are ... if, in fact, such boundaries even exist.
